Welcome to Sancta Maria Catholic
Primary School
Official School Opening
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare, to give you a future and a hope.
On 7 May 2010, Sancta Maria Catholic Primary School celebrated the official opening of the school. We were privileged to share this beautiful and most special occasion with our local and wider community. There were representatives from St Luke's Catholic Community and Sancta Maria College, the Catholic Diocese of Auckland, other local schools, the builders and architects of our precious buildings, the Reverend Bishop Patrick Dunn, His Worship, Mayor Len Brown, the Honourable Pansy Wong, families, friends and many more, to share our celebration of this momentous milestone.
From the powhiri, which was led by our wonderful Kapa Haka group, to the unveiling of our plaque and raising of our flag, the occasion was filled with the gentle and nurturing spirit of our Model, Mother Mary.
We were privileged to have Father Ezio Blasoni lead us in prayer, with the Year 6 students' contribution of the liturgical dance to Hail Mary, Gentle Woman.
We were honoured to listen to His Most Reverend Bishop Patrick Dunn speak about our Catholic Campus and how delighted he is with our "full-cream" Catholic School!!!
The Mayor, Len Brown, spoke of the development of Flat Bush as the newest town in Manukau and our role to play in the development of the area.
Our students danced a Filipino dance and our musicians and choir amazed the crowds.
Once our opening plaque was unveiled by Bishop Patrick, Mayor Len Brown and Mrs Benade, our school flag was raised for the first time and then guests were invited to visit our classrooms to celebrate the learning at our school.
The celebrations did not stop here, as we shared food and cake and each other's company. The day was a huge success and an amazing milestone. Thank you to everyone who was present and contributed to make it such a memorable occasion and our wonderful God who is at the heart of all we do in our school.
